The postnatal period — the weeks immediately following childbirth — is one of the most important and most vulnerable times in a woman's health journey. In Ghana, new mothers often leave hospital within 24 to 48 hours of delivery, with enormous physical and emotional demands ahead of them and limited professional support once home.
The postnatal period carries significant health risks for both mother and newborn. Complications that appear manageable in a hospital setting can become serious quickly at home — particularly for mothers who have had caesarean sections, experienced difficult deliveries, or have underlying health conditions.
Contact CareEdge immediately if a new mother develops severe headache, vision changes, swelling, chest pain, or high fever — or if a newborn is not feeding, appears very yellow, or is unusually lethargic.
Our postnatal nurses are experienced in both maternal and neonatal assessment. Every visit is reviewed by a doctor. Your family receives a WhatsApp update after every visit. And if there is a concern, our emergency escalation chain activates immediately — nurse, supervisor, clinical director, hospital referral.
Our team responds within the hour — every day, 6am to 10pm.
